Carrie's Whole 30

 January 16, 2018
Day 2 and I hope it will only get better from here.  Today was a long day with an on and off headache and eating my meals but not feeling satisfied after eating.  I was not thinking clearly and was very tired.  Yep that is my reason for no food pictures today.  Just completely was not thinking straight.

My day started with the Denver scramble like yesterday.  It was just as good today as yesterday, except one change I only used one strip of bacon instead of 2.

My lunch was the same as yesterday day as well.  It was just as good maybe even better than yesterday if that is even possible.

My supper was sheet pan fajitas.  They were so good.  I have the fajitas on a bed of spinach/arugula mix.  I would recommend a different combination.  I really was not a fan of the mix with the fajitas.

Maybe I was so blah today because there was not a lot of variation from yesterday.  I really like variation in my food and eating the same things was not a good meal planning choice for me.  So I will have to do better next week.

My energy level today as a 2/3 out of 10.  I felt no energy most of the day but after 12:30pm was about a 0.  I did not want to move or do anything.  My sleep was also about a 2/3 out of 10.  Very similar to my night sleep the night before.  Up for part of the night and then when I am suppose to get up it is so difficult.  Today the cravings were so bad.  It is amazing to me how you can go from no cravings one day to cannot stop thinking about all the things you cannot have the next.  It is a good thing those items just are not in my house.

Tomorrow I am going to start my day with Denver scramble (again), lunch is going to be berry chicken salad, and dinner will be Roasted Chicken with sausage and potatoes.

Well today marked my first day of my Whole 30 journey.  I was very surprised because I tend to snack a lot.  I was not all that hungry EXCEPT I ate my lunch a lot later then planned.  So I had only one snack at about 11:30am, as I was out running errands.

My breakfast was scrambled eggs with bacon (whole 30 compliant), onions, and green pepper. https://lifeasmom.com/denver-scramble-ultimate-recipe-swap-pork/  I did make a change as I used bacon instead of ham.  It was so good.  That was one point today that I really wanted bread.  I love toast with scrambled eggs so that was tough but I ate it all and it was fine.

My snack today was an Apple Pie Larabar.  I will say, this was definitely not satisfying and must be an acquired taste. Not the best but if I need a snack it will be perfect.

Lunch today was a Chicken Cobb Salad (picture will be included tomorrow) https://www.paleorunningmomma.com/paleo-chicken-cobb-salad-whole30/.  I was so hungry I ate before taking a picture.  I was a huge salad and so yummy.  I am really boring when it comes to salads so to have other veggies, avocado and eggs on my salad was a bit much.  But I am going to do it all over again tomorrow.

Our supper was Salisbury Steak - Whole 30. https://laughingspatula.com/salisbury-steak/  Salisbury Steak is Kayla's favorite dinner of all time so I was not sure how this was going to go over.  She loved it.  So we will definitely be making it again.  I did not plan well for this meal.  We had the Salisbury steak but nothing with it.  So next time I will make sure we have roasted vegetables or something to eat with it.
Overall, I felt today went really good.  I drank 5 - 32 ounce glasses of water.  Thank you Jenny for my Tumbler glass.  Perfect for my Whole 30 journey.  I definitely could have prepped better for my day.  Cut up more veggies or just thought about the time it was going to take.  I am definitely going to start making my  meals earlier so I stay on track with my eating of 3 meals.

My energy level for today I felt started out really good, maybe a 7/8 out of 10.  By 6:30pm tonight I was at a 2/3 out of 10.  Definitely hitting a wall.  But I did not hit an afternoon wall today so that was nice.  My sleep last night was horrible coming into today.  I went to bed about 9:30 and then I was up about 2:30am and was not wanting to get up at 5:00am when the alarm went off, but by 8:00am I was not tired at all.  I really did not have any cravings today EXCEPT for tator tots that the girls wanted to have with supper.  Tator tots are a favorite of mine.

Tomorrow I will be having the Denver Scramble and the Chicken Cobb Salad again.  Supper is going to be Sheet Pan Fajitas.

Well as part of my New Year's resolution, just like many of you, I want to lose weight.  To accomplish this, we bought bikes (Matt and I, the kids already had bikes), so we can do some bike riding as a family and I plan to start the year with a round of Whole 30.  I have been wanting to do the Whole 30 for over a year and I have decided now is time.

I will be starting my Whole 30 journey on January 15th.  I am doing this journey with some friends I went to high school with and some others that I do not know.  There is a private Facebook group that I am in that is my support system.  I am also using this site for my accountability.

Since Christmas, I have been reading lots of labels, making meals plans for 30 days and just telling as many people as I can about my journey.  I feel that the more people that know, the more people I do not want to let down.

For Christmas, I received a bunch of the Whole 30 books.  I have been taking them every where with me and reading them any chance I get.

I have made weight loss goals for myself and will update everyone along my journey.  For every 10 pounds lost I have a reward.  I have never done a reward system for myself but I hope that it keeps me motivated.

I am so ready for this new journey and will be posting as much as possible about it.

Stay Tuned ....
